South Africa rule out wrongdoing in World Cup bid

South Africa's minister for sport and recreation, Fikile Mbalula, said: "The Department of Sport and Recreation hereby indictates that all funding by the South African government was transferred by National Treasury to the National Department of Sport and Recreation for South Africa.” He added: "No such amount was paid by the Department of Sport and Recreation or the government of South Africa to any individual. Our financial records and books for 2010 and 2011 financial years, and those before and after the period of the World Cup, have been audited by the auditor general of South Africa and no such amount has been found on our books.”
