Manchester United head coach Louis van Gaal feels somebody from the Germany’s World Cup-winning team deserves to be awarded the prestigious Ballon d’Or rather than well-known Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona magician Lionel Messi.
Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos, Philipp Lahm, Thomas Muller, Manuel Neuer, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Mario Gotze are the Germans who have been nominated on the 23-man FIFA shortlist for the top individual award.
"You always have to win something and the best thing to win is the World Championship," said van Gaal, as quoted by reliable Agen Bola indo11.com.
"I hope it shall be a German player because they deserve it. In Germany, the level of the matches in the Bundesliga is also very high."
